Curly Hair Extensions at Siren Extension Studio
While many extensions have a slight wave to the hair, they won't work for someone with a tighter loops and curls. If you have naturally curly hair, choosing extensions with curl, not just wave, makes a big difference in how natural the finished result looks.
At Siren Extension Studio, we offer curly hair extensions in a range of textures, from softer waves and loopy curls to more defined spiral patterns. Your consultation allows us to see your natural curl in person and determine which available texture, colour, length and extension method will give you the best match.
Yes, You Can Get Hair Extensions for Naturally Curly Hair
Having naturally curly hair doesn't mean you need to straighten or smooth your hair to wear extensions. The key is finding extension hair with a texture that blends with your natural curl pattern. At Siren Extension Studio, we work with wavy, loopy and spiral curl textures so your extensions can add length and fullness while allowing you to continue wearing and enjoying your natural curls.
Which Methods of Do We Offer?
Our curly extension options are currently available with:
- K-tips/Fusion extensions
- Weft extensions
- Handcrafted halo extensions
We do not currently offer curly tape-in extensions or curly hair toppers.
We also do not offer extension hair for very tight curl patterns in the 4A to 4C range. If we don't have a texture that will blend naturally with your hair, we'll tell you during your consultation rather than try to force a match that isn't right.
Curly, Wavy and Spiral Extensions
We work with several professional extension lines and can source different hair textures depending on your natural hair.
The Siren Signature Collection includes both wavy and curly options.
When we need a different curl pattern, we order from professional brands we trust, including:
- Coco Marie for tighter spiral patterns,
- Muse for softer waves and curls
- Hair and Compounds for curly k-tip extensions
The goal isn't simply to find curly extensions. It's to find hair with the texture, colour, density and length that will integrate naturally with your own.

Curly Fusion and Weft Extensions Available
Your natural curl pattern doesn't determine your extension method by itself. Your hair density, condition, lifestyle, desired result and maintenance preferences all matter.
K-tips/Fusion extensions can provide a very customized installation because individual extensions can be placed throughout the hair where additional length or fullness is needed.
Weft extensions provide another option for adding length and density while maintaining a texture that works with your natural curls.
During your consultation, we'll look at both your natural hair and what you hope to achieve before recommending a method.
We Can Also Handcraft a Curly Halo
Want the flexibility of removable extensions?
Siren can create a handcrafted halo extension specifically for you. We can make your halo using new curly hair ordered through the salon, or we may be able to use curly weft hair you already own.

You Don't Have to Straighten Your Curls to Wear Extensions
Some curly-haired clients assume extensions will mean regularly smoothing their natural hair so that it blends with straighter extension hair.
Siren stylists Cheyanne and Emily work frequently with curly hair and encourage clients to embrace their natural texture. When an appropriate curly extension texture is available, they would rather help you find hair that works with your curls than have you continually straighten your own hair just to make your extensions blend.
They also understand that installing curly extensions is only part of creating a natural-looking result. The extensions need to be cut, blended and styled with your natural curls in mind.
Curly Hair Stylists
Curly hair can look dramatically different depending on how it is dried, stretched and styled. Your extensions are no different.
Cheyeanne and Emily can show you how to manipulate your curly extensions so you aren't limited to one finished look.
When you want more curl definition, they can show you how to enhance your curl pattern using appropriate products and drying techniques.
When you want a softer or more elongated curl, they can demonstrate stretching and styling techniques that relax the curl pattern without requiring you to permanently alter the extension hair.
The idea is to give you extensions that behave more like your own hair and teach you how to work with them at home.
Finding the Right Curly Extensions Starts With a Consultation
Curly extensions require more planning than simply choosing a length and colour from a swatch.
We need to see your natural curl pattern, density and hair condition. We also need to know how you normally wear and style your hair. From there, we can determine whether we have an appropriate texture available and which brands, shades, lengths and installation methods are options for you.
In some cases, the right hair may need to be specially ordered.
Bring us your curls as you normally wear them. Seeing your natural texture helps us make a much better assessment of what will blend successfully.

Although we can't guess at a cost without seeing and talking to you first, this much we can tell you. How much maintenance do hair extensions require?
«When you leave the salon, I'll give you instructions on how to care for your hair extensions in between appointments. The specific care and maintenance will vary depending on the type of hair extensions, but regardless of what type of bonds you have, you'll need to spend a little extra time each day to keep your extensions looking beautiful. I wear hair extensions all the time and if you ask me, the few minutes a day for a little extra care is well worth it.

Can you get hair extensions with short or thin hair?
«Hair extensions are great for "growing out" a short cut, adding length to hair that's hard to grow past a certain point, or adding back volume to the top of the head or around the face. As long as your own hair is at least 3-4 inches long and in good condition, you can get hair extensions.
Check out my Client Photo Gallery. You'll definitely see some short hair and thin hair transformations, especially with tape in extensions and Great Lengths.
Learn more about the different types in my Guide to Hair Extensions, which also includes top of head extensions, which are single piece hair toppers. More and more women are coming in for these easy in, easy out clip in pieces.
Can you get hair color and highlights with extensions in?
«Just to be clear, quality human hair extensions can be colored, but there are limitations. Synthetic extensions can't be dyed or lightened. Even with human hair extensions, we want to be as gentle as possible with your attachments. With your extensions in, we can do a root touch up or refresh your highlights as new growth comes in. We would be very careful to only color your natural hair, not the extensions. We can even do an all-over color as long as that color is within a few shades. It's not advisable to do heavy lightening or drastic color changes with your extensions in.
Do you cut hair extensions?
«Yes, it is absolutely necessary to cut the hair extensions once they are installed in your hair. This is what we call a "blended cut" and it is essential to trim the ends of the extensions, shape the perimeter of the style and add any necessary layers. It's included with the cost of my service. Without a blended haircut, your extensions won't look natural.
How long will it take to install my hair extensions?
«Well, it depends on what method we are using and if we're performing a hair color service along with the installation. Without any hair color, we can apply tape in hair extensions in an hour and a half. Installing the hair takes about 20 minutes, the rest of the time is for washing, drying, cutting and styling! Fusion hair extensions, because they are a highly customized strand-by-strand application, are an all day job! We take our time on every bond ensuring it’s not too tight or large for the hair it’s being attached to, providing you with the most comfortable and damage free extension experience for months to come! The results are well worth the time spent in that chair! ⠀
What are the best types of hair extensions?
«The best type of extensions for YOU depends on your hair. Here is a quick reference:
- Best for natural volume: hand tied wefts
- Best for fine hair: tape-in extensions
- Best for maximum customization: keratin bonds
- Best for occasional wear: clip-in extensions
- Best for thinning hair: toppers
What is the difference between Genius Wefts and Keratin Bonds
«Genius wefts are applied in rows using a beaded foundation and are ideal for adding volume and length quickly.
Keratin bonds are applied strand by strand using a thermal fusion method and offer the most natural movement and flexibility.
We’ll recommend the best option based on your hair type and goals.
Which extension method is better for fine or thinning hair?
«Keratin bonds are often the best option for fine or thinning hair because they are lightweight and can be placed strategically for the most natural result.
Tape in extensions can be a nice fit for fine hair.
Toppers can be the perfect way to add volume and shape to the top of the head.
In some cases, a combination of methods may be recommended.
How do I choose the right color for my extensions?
«Don't worry, we will help you. We will assess your natural color and your desired color during your consultation, then match you to the perfect pre-colored shades. We offer several dimensional, rooted, and balayage tones, so we can create a seamless blend that grows out beautifully simply using hair extensions. No chemicals needed. We can also adjust your base color and, within reason, we can adjust the color of the extensions before we install them. You will have a color you love.
