Toppers are so named because they add coverage to the top of the head. Toppers come in different sizes, shapes and styles, and they don't require any bonding or shaving. We offer both clip in toppers AND tape in toppers!

Toppers as hair enhancement or hair replacement

I'm noticing a lot more women asking about toppers! Hair pieces are a beautiful solution for thinning hair and hair loss, but they are becoming a popular accessory for women who simply want to look great. And on the cost spectrum, topper hair extensions are quite affordable. Toppers are for any woman looking to add volume, length, and effortless style and without the commitment. What's really cool is that toppers can be combined with other types of extensions like more clip in extensions or tape in extensions to build the perfect look.  It all depends on what you want and what you need.

Types of Toppers:  Human Hair & Synthetic

Depending on your needs, we can install your topper with clips for daily in-and-out wear, or with tape for a more long-term solution. We also carry both human hair toppers and heat resistant synthetic toppers. Synthetic toppers are still natural looking. they make a great introduction to toppers if it's your first time, and they're ideal if you plan to wear your topper as an accessory. If you're a full-time wearer, you'll probably be better off with a human hair topper.

Toppers attach in less than 5 minutes.

If your topper is a clip in style, it simply clips in to your natural hair in the morning and comes out at night. Just wash/style your hair as you normally would, then position your piece(s) and clip! Depending on the size of the piece, there may be anywhere from 3 to 6 tiny clips used to secure the piece to your hair. Don't worry, I show you just how easy it is to position the piece in place and clip them in.  At the end of the day, you just release the clips and slide them out.

They are designed for daily use but they should come out at the end of the day, before bed or before showering.  With proper care, they will last a long time.

Toppers come in varied sizes and shapes

As a stylist, I have so many options when it comes to customizing a look for you. Toppers are available in different sizes and densities to match the different ways hair grows around the head. Using the right size pieces are key to creating an undetectable end result. These are different than a traditional clip in hair extension, but the concept is the same.

  • Small Size: 2 to 3 inches pieces for adding volume around the crown
  • Bangs: Fringe pieces, whether short or long, for adding fullness especially around the face.
  • Large Size: Sometimes referred to as a partial wig, these are great for adding full coverage to the top and sides

It's as easy as it sounds. Wefts of hair are secured with tiny pressure sensitive clips so they're easy to secure and release. They are designed for short term wear so you remove them before swimming, bathing and before going to bed. 

How long will my topper or hair piece last?

The life of your clip in topper hairpiece will depend on the quality of hair, amount of wear and how well you take care of it. With proper care, toppers can last from 6 months to several years.

How much will it cost to get a customized clip in topper hair piece?

The cost will depend on whether you choose human hair or synthetic hair, and how much hair you require. It's impossible to quote an amount as the cost truly varies from person to person but I can tell you that clip in toppers are the most affordable extensions because of the express application time. This will give you an idea of where clip in extensions fall on the cost spectrum as compare to other types.

We get a lot of private messages asking how much do hair extensions cost?  As you can see in our extensions guide, there are several different types and brands of hair extensions to choose from.  Although we can't guess at a cost without seeing and talking to you first, this much we can tell you. The cost will depend on which type and brand of extensions we use, how much hair we use, if we need to custom color them before we  install, and if we need to adjust or highlight your base color before we install. It's impossible to ballpark an amount but hopefully this will give you an idea of how much hair extensions cost relative to each other.

Do hair extensions require a lot of upkeep?

When you leave the salon, I'll give you instructions on how to care for your hair extensions in between appointments. The specific care and maintenance will vary depending on the type of hair extensions, but regardless of what type of bonds you have, you'll need to spend a little extra time each day to keep your extensions looking beautiful. I wear hair extensions all the time and if you ask me, the few minutes a day for a little extra care is well worth it.

Will hair extensions work on short, fine hair?

Hair extensions are great for "growing out" a short cut, adding length to hair that's hard to grow past a certain point, or adding back volume to the top of the head or around the face.  As long as your own hair is at least 3-4 inches long and in good condition, you can get hair extensions.

Can you color my hair with my extensions in?

Just to be clear, quality human hair extensions can be colored, but there are limitations. Synthetic extensions can't be dyed or lightened. Even with human hair extensions, we want to be as gentle as possible with your attachments. With your extensions in, we can do a root touch up or refresh your highlights as new growth comes in. We would be very careful to only color your natural hair, not the extensions. We can even do an all-over color as long as that color is within a few shades.  It's not advisable to do heavy lightening or drastic color changes with your extensions in.

Do you cut hair extensions?

Yes, it is absolutely necessary to cut the hair extensions once they are installed in your hair.  This is what we call a "blended cut" and it is essential to trim the ends of the extensions, shape the perimeter of the style and add any necessary layers. It's included with the cost of my service. Without a blended haircut, your extensions won't look natural.

How long will it take to install my hair extensions?

Well, it depends on what method we are using and if we're performing a hair color service along with the installation. Without any hair color, we can apply tape in hair extensions in an hour and a half. Installing the hair takes about 20 minutes, the rest of the time is for washing, drying, cutting and styling!  Fusion hair extensions, because they are a highly customized strand-by-strand application, are an all day job! We take our time on every bond ensuring it’s not too tight or large for the hair it’s being attached to, providing you with the most comfortable and damage free extension experience for months to come! The results are well worth the time spent in that chair! ⠀
