Fusion Hair Extensions
Keratin bond fusion hair extensions are highly customizable and require minimal in salon maintenance. For a hair extensions stylist, fusions are the ultimate in creative control. Not only do they last up to 5-6 months, they are ideal for adding lots of length, come in 50+ pre-customized colors, and using varied attachment sizes, they can add volume around the hairline and crown without detection.

Who can wear fusion extensions?
Fusion hair extensions come in a "body wave" texture and are best for medium to thicker hair types. I usually don't recommend fusion hair extensions for fine or thinning hair. Those with delicate hair types or hose with that baby fine, slippery hair, I would suggest Tape-In hair extensions for best results.

Brands We Use:
We use Siren Signature Extensions, our own line of human hair wefts. They are available in lengths of 16 to 24 inches. Extended lengths can be special ordered.
We also offer Great Lengths pre-bonded collection. These quality fusion hair extensions are made of premium hair from India, double drawn for consistent strand thickness, uniform cuticle direction so hair behaves like natural hair.
With proper care, these extensions can be worn for 4 to 6 months with minimal in salon maintenance! However, once they are removed, they cannot be reapplied.
We also offer ChemoGirls by Jon Richards, a line of micro strand by strand fusions designed for those looking for a hair replacement solution post-chemotherapy. These extensions last upwards of 1 year, and unlike typical fusion extensions, this hair can be reapplied.
To Color or Not to Color?
Because of the premium quality and wide variety of colors, we'll match your extensions to your hair color for the perfect blended finish. If needed, we can always custom color the extensions darker bur never lighter. We prefer to avoid excessive lightening of the extensions.
How are Fusion Hair Extensions installed?
Fusion hair extensions are fitted using a thermal application. Each band of hair is fitted with a keratin bond and using low heat, the extensions will be ‘fused’ to very small sections of your natural hair. These tiny keratin bonds, known as the fusion bond, are very discreet and matte in texture. You'll get a beautiful, natural look and no one will know they are there.
Will Fusion Extensions damage my hair?
It is important to choose a certified hair extensions stylist with experience applying, adjusting and removing fusion hair extensions. Applied properly, these keratin bond extensions are perfectly safe and if you follow my home care instructions, you won't have any problems. Honestly, most of the damage I see from fusion extensions are from trying to remove the bonds at home (never do that, please) or from neglect, and that includes keeping them in too long.
In Salon Maintenance for Fusion Extensions
Unlike other types of hair extensions that require "move up" appointments, fusion hair extensions are a one time wear. Instead of a move up, you'll come in for a checkup. At around 6-8 weeks, the halfway point in the life of your fusions, you'll come in for a bond check. I'll inspect each bonds to make sure there are no tangles or matting, paying close attention for any shed hairs that are trapped in the bonds. It's perfectly natural to find these long loose hairs and I'll gently trim those away. After a bond check, I'll shampoo your hair and blow dry. And because you're at the halfway point, we'll talk about what happens next. Removal or a new set. Learn more about hair extensions maintenance.

How much maintenance do hair extensions require?
«When you leave the salon, I'll give you instructions on how to care for your hair extensions in between appointments. The specific care and maintenance will vary depending on the type of hair extensions, but regardless of what type of bonds you have, you'll need to spend a little extra time each day to keep your extensions looking beautiful. I wear hair extensions all the time and if you ask me, the few minutes a day for a little extra care is well worth it.

Can you get hair extensions with short or thin hair?
«Hair extensions are great for "growing out" a short cut, adding length to hair that's hard to grow past a certain point, or adding back volume to the top of the head or around the face. As long as your own hair is at least 3-4 inches long and in good condition, you can get hair extensions.
Check out my Client Photo Gallery. You'll definitely see some short hair and thin hair transformations, especially with tape in extensions and Great Lengths.
Learn more about the different types in my Guide to Hair Extensions, which also includes top of head extensions, which are single piece hair toppers. More and more women are coming in for these easy in, easy out clip in pieces.
Can you get hair color and highlights with extensions in?
«Just to be clear, quality human hair extensions can be colored, but there are limitations. Synthetic extensions can't be dyed or lightened. Even with human hair extensions, we want to be as gentle as possible with your attachments. With your extensions in, we can do a root touch up or refresh your highlights as new growth comes in. We would be very careful to only color your natural hair, not the extensions. We can even do an all-over color as long as that color is within a few shades. It's not advisable to do heavy lightening or drastic color changes with your extensions in.
Do you cut hair extensions?
«Yes, it is absolutely necessary to cut the hair extensions once they are installed in your hair. This is what we call a "blended cut" and it is essential to trim the ends of the extensions, shape the perimeter of the style and add any necessary layers. It's included with the cost of my service. Without a blended haircut, your extensions won't look natural.
How long will it take to install my hair extensions?
«Well, it depends on what method we are using and if we're performing a hair color service along with the installation. Without any hair color, we can apply tape in hair extensions in an hour and a half. Installing the hair takes about 20 minutes, the rest of the time is for washing, drying, cutting and styling! Fusion hair extensions, because they are a highly customized strand-by-strand application, are an all day job! We take our time on every bond ensuring it’s not too tight or large for the hair it’s being attached to, providing you with the most comfortable and damage free extension experience for months to come! The results are well worth the time spent in that chair! ⠀
What are the best types of hair extensions?
«The best type of extensions for YOU depends on your hair. Here is a quick reference:
- Best for natural volume: hand tied wefts
- Best for fine hair: tape-in extensions
- Best for maximum customization: keratin bonds
- Best for occasional wear: clip-in extensions
- Best for thinning hair: toppers
What is the difference between Genius Wefts and Keratin Bonds
«Genius wefts are applied in rows using a beaded foundation and are ideal for adding volume and length quickly.
Keratin bonds are applied strand by strand using a thermal fusion method and offer the most natural movement and flexibility.
We’ll recommend the best option based on your hair type and goals.
Which extension method is better for fine or thinning hair?
«Keratin bonds are often the best option for fine or thinning hair because they are lightweight and can be placed strategically for the most natural result.
Tape in extensions can be a nice fit for fine hair.
Toppers can be the perfect way to add volume and shape to the top of the head.
In some cases, a combination of methods may be recommended.
How do I choose the right color for my extensions?
«Don't worry, we will help you. We will assess your natural color and your desired color during your consultation, then match you to the perfect pre-colored shades. We offer several dimensional, rooted, and balayage tones, so we can create a seamless blend that grows out beautifully simply using hair extensions. No chemicals needed. We can also adjust your base color and, within reason, we can adjust the color of the extensions before we install them. You will have a color you love.
